Overview
The UAE Government Media Office created a simple, yet powerful initiative that sparked a movement and brought together millions of Arabs from around the world to celebrate the launch of the first Arab interplanetary mission.
In July 2020, the UAE was gearing up for the launch of the first Arab space mission to Mars that, beyond the scientific objectives, aimed to inspire the Arab youth to pursue scientific exploration.
Leveraging the excitement around the launch countdown to reignite pride in the language and trigger inspiration for the future, we created the #FirstArabicCountdown, world’s first-ever launch countdown in Arabic and invited everyone to share their version of it.
Resonating with people across the Arab world and beyond, the #FirstArabicCountdown made not only Arabs, but the entire world see Arabic in a new light, while driving excitement for the Emirates Mars Mission.
